The Gujarat government has dedicated Rs 7,690 crore in the state Budget for the Women and Child Development sector. This allocation aims to enhance nutrition initiatives, expand anganwadi infrastructure, and introduce technology-based monitoring systems. The focus is on advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Suposhit Bharat’ vision under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership.

Detailing the allocation in Gandhinagar, Women and Child Welfare Minister Dr. Manishaben Vakil emphasized the government’s dedication to improving the nutritional and developmental outcomes of women and children. A provision of Rs 7,690 crore has been made in the women and child welfare sector to further the Prime Minister’s ‘Suposhit Bharat’ vision.

Rs 360 crore has been set aside for constructing 2,000 new anganwadi centers across Gujarat to bolster infrastructure. These new centers will be designed on a child-friendly concept, equipped with modular furniture, RO machines, LED television screens, and amenities like rainwater harvesting.

In tribal areas, the government plans to expand the Doodh Sanjeevani Yojana to 53 components. Additionally, Rs 38.64 crore has been allocated to increase the fat content in milk provided under the scheme from 1.5% to 3%. As a pilot project in Narmada, Dahod, and Dang, the fat content will be raised to 4.5%.
