The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) revealed an alleged terror plot after detaining a 22-year-old man from Navsari district. Faizan Shaikh, the suspect, was found with weapons and plans for targeted killings, indicating a wider extremist scheme. Shaikh, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended following intelligence inputs on potential violent activities.
Officials disclosed that Shaikh had intentions to carry out attacks to instill fear and promote extremist ideologies. An Instagram account linked to him was flagged during an investigation, leading to his arrest. A search of his phone uncovered extremist content supporting banned groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed and Al Qaeda.
The accused also possessed printed material in Arabic and Urdu aimed at radicalizing youth. Along with a pistol and ammunition, officials found photos of individuals marked as potential targets. The ATS is now focused on identifying accomplices and targets associated with the alleged conspiracy.
