Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel highlighted the significance of natural farming in restoring soil health and ensuring a sustainable future during his visit to two model farms in Gandhinagar district. He interacted with farmers at Alpesh Patel’s natural farming farm in Mahundra village, where he observed farming techniques using cow-based inputs and learned about cattle management at the gaushala. Patel also visited farmer Shantilal Patel’s model farm at Shivpura Kampa.
Promoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Back to Basics” vision, Patel engaged with villagers and farmers in Mahundra village, stressing the vital role of natural farming in maintaining both human and environmental health. He expressed concerns about declining soil quality and emphasized the need to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers to prevent diseases and enhance soil and societal well-being. Patel encouraged citizens to embrace natural farming for sustainable resource conservation.
The Chief Minister discussed water conservation initiatives such as the Amrit Sarovar and Khet Talavadi campaigns to tackle water scarcity and unpredictable rainfall patterns. He mentioned the state government’s efforts under the Sujalam Sufalam scheme to expand water conservation by increasing the permissible distance for lake filling. Patel also praised Prime Minister Modi’s hydrogen train launch, positioning India as a leader in green energy transition.
Advocating for eco-friendly practices, Patel urged the public to opt for paper bags over plastic for shopping needs. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balanced development, emphasizing the equal importance of industrial growth and environmental protection. Farmers practicing natural farming shared their success stories during the interaction, encouraging others to adopt chemical-free cultivation methods with the guidance of agricultural experts and officials.
