Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel joined the swearing-in event of West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari in Kolkata. Adhikari took the oath alongside his council members at the Brigade Parade Ground. Patel congratulated Adhikari and highlighted the focus on development in BJP-ruled states under PM Modi’s leadership.
The ceremony gathered various political leaders and dignitaries, including PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Adhikari, a former TMC leader who switched to BJP, played a crucial role in the recent West Bengal elections. He won from key constituencies like Nandigram and Bhabanipur, defeating Mamata Banerjee in the latter by a significant margin.
Adhikari’s election as the BJP Legislative Party leader in West Bengal preceded the formation of the new government. His transition from TMC to BJP in 2020 reshaped the state’s political dynamics, making his journey a focal point in the recent elections.
