Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the ‘Gujarat SemiConnect Conference 2026’ in Gandhinagar with enthusiasm. The two-day event, themed “Gujarat – India’s Gateway to Silicon,” aims to foster partnerships between high-tech chip manufacturers and local industries. Organized by the state’s Department of Science and Technology, the conference saw the Chief Minister engaging in individual meetings with industry leaders and investors.
During these meetings, discussions centered on establishing research and development centers, memory module facilities, power chip manufacturing units, and specialty chemical facilities in the semiconductor sector. Patel highlighted Gujarat’s conducive ecosystem for semiconductor industries, emphasizing locations like Dholera and Sanand and the government’s proactive stance. Describing the conference as pivotal for India’s technological advancement, he reiterated Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to positioning India as a global leader in semiconductors.
Patel underscored Gujarat’s emergence as a semiconductor hub, attracting foreign investments due to its modern infrastructure and business-friendly policies. He expressed optimism that the conference will showcase Gujarat’s technological prowess globally and contribute to India’s journey towards self-reliance. Notable industry figures like Meghav Mehta, Dato Seri Lee Hung Lung, Makoto Terada, Ashok Mehta, Rajeev Gautam, and Radhika Viswanathan were among those who interacted with the Chief Minister during the event.
