Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel visited flood-affected areas in Ahmedabad, including Bopal, Ambli, and Ghuma, following heavy rainfall causing severe waterlogging. He personally assessed the situation in Bopal by walking through the flooded region, interacting with residents, and instructing officials to expedite relief efforts.
During his inspection, Patel observed the waterlogging in Bopal and oversaw the drainage and relief operations with senior officials on-site. He emphasized the need for swift relief and rescue work, ensuring the availability of manpower and resources to address the waterlogging issue promptly.
Later, the Chief Minister toured Ambli and Ghuma, holding a review meeting with senior officials from various departments to address the challenges posed by the heavy rainfall. He stressed the importance of prioritizing cleanliness and public health measures in the affected areas post-flooding, while officials reported actively addressing complaints related to rain-induced incidents.
Additionally, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s emergency response teams managed 166 complaints of fallen trees and branches during the downpour, swiftly restoring traffic flow by clearing affected roads. The civic body’s continuous monitoring and prompt action helped maintain public safety and traffic movement across different zones in the city.
Chief Minister Patel is scheduled to convene a review meeting at the State Emergency Operation Centre to assess the state’s overall rainfall situation.
