Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel met with Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India, Jacqueline Mukangira, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) in Surat. Discussions focused on enhancing economic cooperation between Gujarat and Rwanda. The meeting, held at the South Gujarat edition of VGRC, aimed to strengthen trade, investment ties, and promote institutional and people-to-people engagement.
Mukangira commended the state government for organizing the conference successfully and emphasized Rwanda’s significance as a partner country for India. She highlighted the increasing trade flows and commercial interactions between the two regions, particularly through Gujarat-based business networks. Rwanda currently imports items like textiles, spices, and sugar from India.
During the meeting, Mukangira emphasized the substantial presence of Gujarati entrepreneurs in Rwanda, fostering cultural understanding and closer people-to-people connections. She stressed the robust cultural and people-to-people ties between Rwanda and Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel proposed a delegation from Gujarat to visit Rwanda to explore new avenues for cooperation and expand economic linkages.
Furthermore, Patel appreciated Rwanda’s participation as a partner country at VGRC and extended an invitation for Rwanda to join the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2027. Discussions also revolved around enhancing collaboration in trade and investment facilitation, building on the existing economic exchanges between the two regions. The meeting was attended by various officials from Gujarat and representatives from Rwanda.
