Gujarat Chief Minister, Bhupendra Patel, extended congratulations to BJP candidate Harshad Parmar for his victory in the Umreth Assembly bye-election. Patel thanked the voters for their support and reiterated the government’s commitment to development. The Election Commission of India declared the results after 23 rounds of counting.
Parmar secured 85,500 votes, surpassing Congress candidate Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan by 30,743 votes. The bye-election in the Umreth Assembly constituency in Anand district was held due to the passing of sitting BJP MLA Govind Parmar. The BJP’s Harshad Parmar and Congress’ Bhrugurajsinh Chauhan were the key contenders in the election.
Following the victory, BJP state president Jagdish Vishwakarma expressed gratitude to the people of Umreth for the significant win. The voter turnout in the constituency was around 59%, with a clear contest between the BJP and Congress among six candidates. The BJP’s success in retaining the seat reinforces its influence in the region.
The Umreth Assembly bye-election coincided with Assembly bypolls in various states, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tripura, and Nagaland. The results were announced on Monday, with the BJP securing victory in Umreth and other constituencies.
