Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has instructed state department heads to maintain high construction quality standards for the state’s development projects. This directive came during a Cabinet meeting where the Chief Minister stressed the importance of ensuring all current and future projects meet top-notch standards.
Government spokesperson and Minister Jitu Vaghani conveyed that the Chief Minister emphasized the paramount importance of quality in all construction works. Any deficiencies, regardless of their size, must be promptly rectified in the public’s interest. Minister Vaghani highlighted the Mehmedabad – Mahudha road project, costing Rs 200 crore, which faced complaints of deterioration within a year. The Chief Minister has ordered the Roads and Buildings Department to immediately restore the road and initiate an inquiry into the accountable parties.
In terms of financial management, Minister Vaghani mentioned that the Chief Minister directed all departments to prevent work stoppages due to funding shortages. Officials are tasked with making advance arrangements and timely fund requests to ensure uninterrupted progress on citizen-centric projects. Departments have been instructed to efficiently utilize their allocated budgets by March’s end, with a zero-tolerance policy for administrative delays hindering public services.
Officials were cautioned that severe deficiencies impacting public projects will result in stringent actions. The government aims to proactively manage projects, maintaining high standards while avoiding hindrances to developmental efforts caused by financial or administrative challenges. Previously, the government disclosed disbursing over Rs 9,466 crore in financial aid to more than 32 lakh farmers affected by untimely and heavy rainfall in the state.
