The Gujarat Congress has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of colluding in a well-planned conspiracy. They allege that this scheme aimed to deprive numerous genuine voters of their voting rights. The State Congress highlighted significant discrepancies in the processing of Form-7 objections, raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee President Amit Chavda questioned the shifting figures released by the Election Commission regarding Form-7 applications. He expressed confusion over the varying numbers provided by the Election Commission, emphasizing the need for transparency and consistency in the electoral procedures.
Chavda further alleged that there was a deliberate attempt to manipulate the voter lists, pointing out that a substantial number of voters were reportedly deleted in Gujarat. He raised concerns about the authenticity of Form-7 applications and demanded accountability from those responsible for potential irregularities.
Referring to specific instances in various districts, Chavda revealed that a high percentage of objections were rejected following the verification deadline. This rejection rate, he argued, indicated a systemic issue that needed to be addressed to safeguard the electoral rights of citizens. The Congress leader asserted that they would explore legal avenues, including approaching the Supreme Court, to challenge any attempts at undermining the democratic process.
