Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi shared that over four crore permanent houses have been constructed in India in the last 12 years through the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’, benefiting numerous underprivileged families. Speaking at the “NAMO Yuva Samvad: Viksit Bharat Blueprint” event in Gandhinagar, Sanghavi emphasized the country’s advancements since 2014 in various sectors like agriculture, economy, law and order, and empowerment of youth and women.
The event aimed to inspire young individuals to actively contribute to India’s progress and align their ideas with the nation’s development agenda. Sanghavi engaged with students, discussing the goals of “Viksit Bharat 2047” and the positive impact of the housing scheme in improving living conditions for many previously residing in temporary shelters.
Sanghavi highlighted the significance of financial inclusion, noting that a large portion of the population, including the poor and middle-class, now have access to banking services, which was not the case before 2014. He stressed that the construction of permanent homes and other initiatives reflect the government’s strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for the less privileged.
Discussing infrastructure projects, Sanghavi mentioned key developments such as the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Atal Tunnel, which have notably reduced travel time and fuel consumption. He also pointed out the substantial increase in the number of airports in India by 2026 compared to pre-2014 levels, along with the enhanced air travel accessibility through schemes like UDAN.
