The Gujarat government has earmarked Rs 20 crore in the 2026–27 state budget for developing theme-based Namo Gaurav Park projects in municipal corporation areas. This allocation is part of a total proposed outlay of Rs 100 crore aimed at creating modern recreational infrastructure for urban residents. The initiative is under the Urban Development and Urban Housing Department to address the need for quality recreational spaces in cities facing reduced open areas due to rapid urbanization.
The decision to establish theme-based parks comes under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s leadership, with the goal of providing safe, inclusive, and vibrant community spaces catering to all age groups. These parks are designed to meet both recreational and cultural needs while promoting holistic health and well-being. The project will include various components such as children’s play zones, theme-based landscaping, sculptures, green areas, fitness and sports zones, recreational spaces, water bodies, and eco-friendly measures.
The theme-based parks will offer amenities like open-air gyms, jogging tracks, play apparatus, butterfly gardens, and herbal gardens. Additionally, there will be facilities for games like badminton and volleyball, open-air amphitheaters, and areas for yoga and meditation. The parks will also feature water bodies, eco-friendly measures like drip irrigation systems, and public amenities including drinking water facilities, clean toilets, benches, gazebos, and pathways for People with Disabilities.
The initiative aims to strengthen urban community bonds through cultural activities and social gatherings within the parks. It also seeks to enhance urban ecology by increasing green cover, promoting biodiversity, and improving microclimatic conditions. By integrating water conservation and sustainable infrastructure, the project aims to enhance climate resilience and the overall quality of urban life in municipal corporation areas.
