Works totaling Rs 246 crore have been sanctioned for 148 kilometers of roads in Danta taluka, Banaskantha district, over the last three years, as disclosed in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Minister Rushikesh Patel highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing road connectivity in remote areas, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The approved projects include the renovation of the Iqbalgadh-Surela-Dhanpura-Virampur-Ambaji road.
The allocated funds, amounting to Rs 9.80 crore, will be utilized for the renovation of the route connecting Iqbalgadh and Virampur in Amirgadh taluka to Ambaji, a prominent pilgrimage site. The renovation project encompasses various aspects such as road widening, earthwork, metalwork, bitumen surfacing, concrete work, construction of protection walls, drainage works, and other road enhancements. Minister Patel emphasized that the upgraded road infrastructure would facilitate the transportation of agricultural produce by local farmers to the market yard at Iqbalgadh.
Furthermore, the improved road network is expected to benefit over 13,000 residents from four nearby villages, along with three primary schools and a Primary Health Centre, by providing enhanced transport services. Responding to queries regarding road specifications, Minister Patel mentioned that road widening adheres to international standards, with widths increased to 5.50 meters or 7 meters based on Passenger Car Unit (PCU) norms. He also highlighted the enforcement of strict measures against contractors causing delays without valid reasons, including penalties and potential blacklisting.
