The Gujarat government is focusing on utilizing modern technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance city efficiency. An AI Centre of Excellence in Gandhinagar, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, is working on integrating advanced technologies into public services. A pilot project for the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is being developed to address the issue of stray cattle in urban areas.

Efforts are being made to expedite the identification of stray cows and their owners using AI technology. Currently, the process involves manual identification through CCTV footage, microchips, and RFID tags. To improve efficiency, an AI model is being developed to streamline this identification process. The proposed system will use computer vision and deep learning to identify cows based on unique biometric features like nose patterns.

The AI model will analyze distinctive features of each cow, such as nose design, eyes, facial structure, and visible marks. By matching these features with a database of tagged cows, the AI will provide owner information in real-time. This initiative, if successful, is expected to enhance traffic management and public safety by reducing incidents involving stray cattle in Ahmedabad.
