Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had taken down a US MQ-1 drone that entered Iranian territorial waters for hostile activities. The drone was swiftly identified and brought down using air defense missiles, as reported by the state-run Islamic Republic News Agency.
The IRGC had previously stated its right to retaliate against any US ceasefire breaches. In another incident, the IRGC’s air defense units successfully shot down a US MQ-9 drone. Additionally, reports indicate that the IRGC targeted a fighter jet that violated Iranian airspace, following recent US “self-defense strikes” on Iran.
US military actions included striking missile launch sites and mine-laying boats in southern Iran to safeguard troops from perceived threats by Iranian forces. The US Central Command emphasized the defensive nature of these strikes, aiming to protect US forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.
Fresh overnight strikes by the US military in Iran targeted a military site deemed a threat to US personnel and commercial vessels in the region. Despite these actions, the US maintains that the ceasefire with Iran remains intact. Explosions were also reported near Bandar Abbas in the Strait of Hormuz, while Washington cites concerns over Iran’s nuclear program as a key factor in the conflict with Israel.
