The Gujarat government is closely monitoring the monsoon situation in Saurashtra, with Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani set to lead a virtual review meeting. This meeting aims to evaluate the current rainfall conditions in Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Amreli districts amidst heavy rainfall in parts of Gujarat.
Fresh forecasts indicate the likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in certain areas of the state within the next 24 hours. The review meeting will specifically address the rainfall status in the three crucial Saurashtra districts and assess the readiness of the local administration.
Key stakeholders including Bhavnagar’s Minister-in-Charge Kaushik Vekariya, local Members of Parliament, and District Collectors from Bhavnagar, Rajkot, and Amreli will participate in the meeting. They will provide real-time updates on the situation in low-lying areas, rivers, streams, and dam water inflows.
Authorities are closely monitoring the functioning of district control rooms to ensure a prompt response to issues like power outages, water supply disruptions, and road blockages due to heavy rainfall. The intensified monitoring follows a period of active monsoon rains across Gujarat, with forecasts warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in certain areas.
