The Gujarat government has started relocating 188 students from Dhanvantari Ayurveda College and Hospital in Mahisagar district to other self-financed Ayurveda colleges. This move comes after the college shut down, aiming to prevent the students from losing an academic year. State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya announced the initiative, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring the students’ academic progress.
A proposal has been submitted to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for approval to transfer the students to recognized self-financed Ayurveda colleges across the state. The decision was prompted by complaints and representations from students, leading to the formation of a three-member inspection committee to investigate the situation. The committee recommended transferring the students to other institutions for their educational welfare and continuity.
The state government’s efforts resulted in securing approval for supernumerary seats in various self-financed Ayurveda colleges to accommodate the affected students until they finish their courses. The transfer process will be overseen by Gujarat Ayurved University in Jamnagar, in collaboration with relevant authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Students will be allocated seats based on merit position or All India NEET rank.
