Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat finished the online self-enumeration for Census-2027 from Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar, urging citizens to participate before May 31. This marks the launch of India’s first fully digital census self-enumeration system. The process allows citizens to submit their demographic details digitally through a web portal and mobile app.
Director of Census Operations in Gujarat, Sujal Mayatra, explained the technical aspects and security features of the digital census process to the Governor. The Governor highlighted the digital revolution in India under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasized the simplicity, security, and convenience of the digital census process, a first in the country’s history.
For the first time, the population census in India is entirely digital, aiming for accurate and timely information crucial for a developed and inclusive India. The Governor stressed the importance of public participation for the success of the nationwide campaign. The self-enumeration system introduced in Census-2027 allows citizens to submit their information online from anywhere.
In Gujarat, citizens can fill in their details on the official portal until May 31 following the prescribed guidelines. Post the online phase, house listing operations will be conducted by over one lakh census workers from June 1 to 30 across Gujarat. The Governor extended his best wishes to the Census Department and its staff for the smooth execution of the national exercise.
Minister of State for Education, Rivaba Jadeja, participated in the campaign by submitting her family details online from Gandhinagar. She encouraged citizens to actively engage in the process before the deadline, emphasizing the significance of public participation in planning for the nation’s development. Public involvement is seen as a vital contribution to building a stronger India.
