Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat praised yoga as more than just exercise, calling it “an excellent art of living life.” Speaking at the 12th International Yoga Day celebration in Gandhinagar, he highlighted yoga’s ability to address modern challenges like mental stress and lifestyle-related illnesses. Devvrat stressed the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being, noting its ancient roots in Indian science and tradition.
Yoga, according to the Governor, is not just a physical activity but a holistic approach to life. He underscored that in today’s fast-paced world, yoga serves as a crucial tool to combat mental stress and diseases related to lifestyle. Regular practice of yoga and pranayama, he added, not only maintains physical health but also enhances focus, calmness, and positivity.
Devvrat urged people to integrate yoga into their daily routines for a healthy body and mind. He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his global efforts in promoting yoga, which have garnered international recognition and connected millions worldwide to India’s cultural heritage. The Governor also highlighted yoga’s role in fostering unity among nations and cultures under the principle of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” meaning the world is one family.
After the event, Governor Devvrat led a pledge encouraging participants to embrace a healthy lifestyle. The gathering included officials like Dr. Jayanti Ravi, Ashok Sharma, and A.K. Joshi, as well as employees and citizens from Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar.
