Gandhinagar, Aug 13 (IANS) Gujarat has spent Rs 54.97 crore over the past three years on interior infrastructure and design works in government offices across the state, as part of an effort to make public offices more organised and convenient for citizens.

The work has been undertaken by the Gujarat Rural Industries Marketing Corporation Limited (GRIMCO), with projects completed between 2023-24 and 2025-26. A further Rs 30 crore-plus has been earmarked for interior infrastructure works currently underway in 2026-27.

GRIMCO, a state government undertaking under the Commissioner of Cottage and Rural Industries, has been involved in the interior decoration of government offices for several years.

During 2023-24, interior infrastructure works worth Rs 20.43 crore were completed at various government offices. This included 12 GST Suvidha Kendras, which were completed within 35 days under a special Government of India project.

Works were also carried out at Ahmedabad Haat in Vastrapur and 17 Sub-Registrar Offices, besides other government offices. In 2024-25, GRIMCO completed interior design projects worth Rs 29.24 crore at 35 Sub-Registrar Offices across Gujarat.

The work also covered offices including the Finance Department, Commissionerate of Labour, Office of the Development Commissioner and Dholera Industrial City.

During 2025-26, interior design work at the Gujarat State Institution for Transformation (GRIT) and Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM) was completed for Rs 5.30 crore.

The work was completed within the stipulated timeframe, and senior state government officials appreciated its quality. Several projects are now in progress during 2026-27.

These include works at the Finance Department, Settlement Commissioner’s Office, EQDC, RUDA, GPCB, Gujarat Informatics Limited (GIL), GIDC and the Assistant Commissioner of State Tax’s Office at Jamkhambhaliya, as well as 49 Sub-Registrar Offices.

Recent GRIMCO tenders also show ongoing civil, interior, electrical and HVAC works at government offices, including the Finance Department and groups of Sub-Registrar Offices.

To improve the quality and timely execution of projects planned between 2025 and 2028, GRIMCO has formed a panel of reputed architects across five categories.

The panel is intended to bring greater professionalism, transparency and consistency to the execution of interior design works.

The initiative is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, with guidance from Minister for Cottage, Khadi and Village Industries Naresh Patel and Minister of State, Swaroopji Thakor.

GRIMCO said it would continue to undertake modernisation of government and semi-government offices with a focus on quality, timely completion and citizen-centric facilities.
