Gujarat Health Minister Praful Pansheriya disclosed that the decision to cancel the NEET-UG examination was made to uphold transparency following the discovery of irregularities. The matter has been referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a thorough investigation.
Pansheriya expressed that the exam, administered by central authorities and trusted by numerous students, was compromised due to detected malpractices. He emphasized the seriousness of the situation, stating that if the exam had proceeded, those engaged in misconduct would have gained an advantage.
The Minister highlighted the gravity of the alleged leak, labeling it a severe offense. He assured that strict actions would be taken through the CBI probe. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct a re-examination, with no need for candidates to re-register or pay additional fees.
Official reports and investigations revealed that the NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3 was called off due to concerns of question paper leaks and irregularities. A CBI inquiry has been initiated to delve into the suspected breach of exam integrity. The NTA, in collaboration with central agencies, decided on a re-test for all examinees.
Authorities confirmed that no fresh applications are required for the re-exam, and further details on the revised schedule will be provided as the investigation progresses.
