Gujarat has initiated a month-long ‘Save Farm Campaign’ aimed at encouraging sustainable farming practices and reducing chemical inputs in agriculture. The campaign, inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani in Shertha village, Gandhinagar district, will run from June 1 to June 30. Teams comprising agricultural experts and field staff will educate farmers across the state on balanced fertilizer usage and natural farming methods.
The Agriculture Minister emphasized the importance of preserving agricultural land for future generations, highlighting the adverse effects of excessive chemical fertilizers on soil fertility and human health. He urged farmers to gradually transition to natural farming practices, starting with a small portion of their land and monitoring the outcomes before expanding further. The initiative aligns with the national vision for sustainable agriculture, supported by leaders like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Governor Acharya Devvrat.
To assist farmers in marketing natural produce, the state government has introduced certification systems and online sales platforms. Additionally, regular sale centers have been set up at various government offices to facilitate the sale of natural farming products. The Agriculture Department has trained a significant number of farmers in natural farming techniques and is providing subsidized fertilizers to support sustainable agriculture practices.
