Gujarat stands out as the sole state in India implementing 19 diverse policies for various industries, as highlighted by State BJP president and MLA Jagdish Vishwakarma at the inauguration of the ‘Shri Vishwakarma Business Expo 2026’ in Gandhinagar. Vishwakarma emphasized the significant role of these policies in fostering industrial growth and nurturing an innovation-friendly environment within the state. He also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for their efforts in translating ambitious projects like the semiconductor mission into tangible achievements in Gujarat.
Vishwakarma, addressing the audience, praised the Vishwakarma community for their expertise in traditional skills and technology, recognized globally for their proficiency. He further underscored the community’s potential, including a substantial number of engineers, and highlighted the government’s support for research activities and the establishment of engineering research centers. Emphasizing the importance of preserving traditional skills alongside modern technology, Vishwakarma suggested that the expo could serve as a platform to safeguard older technologies and ensure their continued relevance in the evolving industrial landscape.
In his address, Vishwakarma reflected on the evolution of India’s economy, noting the transition from a primarily agrarian and engineering-focused economy at Independence to a diversified landscape encompassing various sectors such as industrial, rural, medical, digital, tourism, spiritual, blue, green, and orange economies. He urged participants at the expo to actively engage in exchanging ideas to enhance the platform for future growth and development.
