The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Gujarat Police’s Valsad unit has made a significant breakthrough by apprehending the alleged mastermind of an international illegal call center recently discovered in Dungra. The accused, identified as Yuvraj Saluja, a 33-year-old businessman, was captured in Rohtak, Haryana, and transferred to the authorities at Vapi GIDC Police Station for further legal action. The investigation began with a virtual number associated with a Chinese application and progressed independently without foreign cooperation.
The raid on Bungalow No 43 in Dungra on June 11 led to the arrest of 11 individuals, including the alleged main operator of the call center, Rajesh alias Raj Tholar. This illicit call center reportedly targeted foreign nationals using internet-based Wi-Fi calling for fraudulent activities related to server services and gift card redemption. The focus of the inquiry was on identifying the server provider and the individual facilitating the gift card scams.
Under the guidance of Police Inspector D.D. Parmar, the Valsad SOG team, along with technical experts, traced the suspect’s location to Rohtak. A team subsequently apprehended Saluja from his residence in Jung Colony, Haryana. The investigation, initiated with a virtual number from a Chinese app, involved analyzing numerous IP addresses, Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) data, and patterns associated with the virtual number provider’s website.
Despite the lack of cooperation from foreign entities, the cyber investigation persisted, leading to the significant arrest in the case registered at Dungra Police Station. The officials highlighted that this development marked a crucial milestone in the ongoing investigation of the cyber fraud case. Further inquiries are currently in progress.
