Gujarat Police have detained 362 Bangladeshi nationals suspected of residing illegally in India as part of ‘Operation Delta Hunt’, announced Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The operation involved screening over 6,200 individuals across the state using various surveillance methods. Authorities are also questioning 782 other individuals for their suspected involvement.
The detained individuals include 103 men, 188 women, and 71 children, with Ahmedabad and Surat cities having the highest number of apprehensions. Operations were also conducted in other districts, resulting in multiple arrests. Director General of Police K. L. N. Rao highlighted the use of technical data and field verification in the operation.
Sanghavi emphasized the significance of the operation, calling it a historic success for Gujarat Police. He praised the police personnel for their efforts and stated that the crackdown would continue in all regions of the state. Investigations revealed instances of illegal entry and document forgery by some of the detained individuals, who will undergo legal procedures and possible deportation.
