Gujarat Police has initiated a 28-day campaign named ‘Operation Surakshit Cyberspace’ to enhance the safety of women and children in the digital realm. The campaign, running from July 1 to July 28, aims to secure the online environment by blending technology-driven policing, cyber awareness, victim support, and coordinated enforcement efforts.
The primary goal of ‘Operation Surakshit Cyberspace’ is to ensure that women and children feel as protected online as they do in physical spaces while mitigating the risks of cybercrimes through timely police actions and early interventions. Ajay Choudhary, Additional Director General of Police, CID Crime (Women Cell), highlighted that the campaign concentrates on bolstering public safety in the digital domain, particularly for groups vulnerable to cyber offenses.
The campaign involves various tasks for police personnel across Gujarat, such as identifying potential victims, verifying cybercrime alerts, counseling at-risk individuals, facilitating immediate reporting through the National Cyber Helpline, and ensuring swift registration and investigation of offenses. It also stresses field-level verification, victim outreach, and the utilization of cyber intelligence tools to detect and prevent threats effectively.
Gujarat Police will collaborate with banks, telecom service providers, educational institutions, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), NGOs, and community leaders to enhance cyber awareness and reinforce preventive measures. The campaign, guided by the slogan “Safety through awareness, investigation through technology, action through law, and a safer Gujarat through public participation,” aims to educate citizens on cyber safety, encourage students to take the Cyber Safety Pledge, and conduct awareness programs in schools and colleges.
