The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell confiscated Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at nearly Rs 69 lakh in raids in Valsad and Mehsana districts. The total worth of liquor and property recovered exceeded Rs 1.09 crore, leading to cases against 14 individuals. Following directions from Gujarat’s Director General of Police (DGP) G.S. Malik, the crackdown aimed to curb illegal liquor and gambling activities statewide.
In Valsad, Police Inspector B.P. Desai and team intercepted a vehicle near Kundi Bridge, seizing 3,025 bottles of Indian-made beer worth Rs 9,26,051. Two individuals, Ilesh alias Iliyo Patel and Kapil alias Sonu Patel, were arrested in connection with the operation. The muddamal recovered, including the vehicle, amounted to Rs 19,36,051.
Another raid in Mehsana, led by Police Inspector A.J. Chauhan, resulted in the confiscation of 25,858 beer bottles valued at Rs 59,73,198. Hemaram Jat from Rajasthan was apprehended for transporting the beer consignment. The total value of the seized liquor and property in this operation was estimated at Rs 89,95,198.
The cases in both districts were registered under relevant sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, with additional accused persons identified in connection with the illegal liquor supply chain. The State Monitoring Cell affirmed ongoing investigations to locate the remaining suspects and dismantle the broader network involved in the illicit liquor trade.
