The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) valued at over Rs 63 lakh and apprehended a truck driver during a prohibition raid in Surendranagar district. The raid, conducted at the Hotel Nagaraj compound in Dhedhuki village of Sayla taluka, led to the discovery of 21,574 bottles and cans of various liquors.
The seized stock included brands like Star Gold Premium Whisky, Discount Premium Whisky, All Seasons Reserve Whiskey, Royal Challenge Premium Deluxe Whisky, and Kingfisher Super Strong Premium Beer. Additionally, officers confiscated a truck trailer, two mobile phones, tarpaulins, and a rope, bringing the total estimated value of the seized property to Rs 93,26,500 lakh.
The arrested individual, Karansinh Chamar from Haryana, was driving the truck-trailer and has been handed over to the Sayla police station for further investigation. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Prohibition Act, along with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, with three other accused individuals named as wanted in the case.
The police are actively pursuing further investigation to track the supply chain and apprehend the remaining suspects. This seizure is part of ongoing efforts to enforce prohibition laws in Gujarat, with recent crackdowns on illegal liquor activities across the state.
