The Gujarat Police’s State Monitoring Cell conducted raids in Junagadh district, seizing suspected adulterated biodiesel and related equipment valued at over Rs 2.13 crore. Eight individuals were arrested, while five others are wanted in connection with the alleged illegal trade. The seized property included 30,970 liters of suspected fuel, vehicles, electric motors, storage tanks, cash, and other equipment, with a total estimated value of Rs 2,13,48,880.

In one location, Shivkrupa Traders, the police recovered the largest quantity of suspected adulterated biodiesel, along with various equipment, valued at Rs 51,78,560. Four individuals were arrested in this case, while two others are wanted for supplying the illegal liquid. Another raid at Radhe Enterprise led to the seizure of 10,070 liters of suspected adulterated biodiesel and the arrest of two individuals, with three others named as wanted accused.

At Neelkanth Transport, the police seized 2,600 liters of suspected adulterated biodiesel and arrested two individuals. The total value of the seizure was estimated at Rs 1,34,31,500, primarily due to the recovery of vehicles from the premises. The State Monitoring Cell emphasized that the sale of illegally manufactured or adulterated biodiesel is prohibited in Gujarat due to its harmful environmental and safety impacts.

Officials highlighted that using such fuel can increase emissions, contribute to air pollution, contaminate land and water bodies, and pose risks to road safety. They warned that substandard fuel can damage vehicle engines and increase the likelihood of fires and explosions. The illegal trade not only impacts government revenue but also negatively affects legitimate fuel businesses.
