Gujarat experienced significant monsoon showers in the last 24 hours, particularly in South Gujarat and parts of Saurashtra, leading authorities to stay vigilant as reservoirs fill up and disaster response teams are active. The State Emergency Operation Centre in Gandhinagar reported rainfall ranging from light to heavy in 225 talukas across 34 districts. Vapi taluka in Valsad district recorded the highest rainfall in the state, with over 8 inches, while other areas like Pardi, Umargam, Kamrej, and Ghogha also received substantial rainfall.
The cumulative seasonal rainfall in Gujarat has reached 20.44% of the long-term average as of July 7, with Saurashtra and South Gujarat leading in regional rainfall percentages. Water storage levels have improved across the state, with the Sardar Sarovar Dam holding around 65% of its total capacity. The SEOC has placed several dams on high alert, alert, and warning statuses due to rising reservoir levels, with over 1,500 people relocated to safer places and disaster response teams actively deployed.
