Gujarat Science City, established in 1999, has surpassed 1.43 crore visitors by May this year, becoming a prominent science education and experiential learning hub in India. Initially set up in Ahmedabad, the facility underwent significant expansion under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in Gujarat, emphasizing interactive learning over traditional textbook-based education.
The center aims to foster scientific temper, innovation, and public understanding of science, attracting science enthusiasts and students. It boasts a multi-zone scientific campus with thematic galleries, including the Aquatic Gallery featuring diverse marine life and a 5D theatre. Additionally, the Astronomy and Space Science Gallery offers a planetarium and exhibits related to space science.
Visitors can explore the Robotics Gallery showcasing various robots, VR/AR installations, and a robotic café. The Science City also features the Planet Earth gallery focusing on natural disasters and biodiversity, along with the Energy Education Park promoting energy conservation. Moreover, the Life Science Park includes diverse ecosystems and educational facilities like IMAX 3D theaters and interactive modules.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited the Science City twice, emphasizing its significance. The state government plans further expansions, including Aviation and Defence, and Human and Biological Science Galleries. Professionals and visitors praise the center for its educational value and engaging experiences, making it a key destination for families and students seeking interactive science learning.
