Gujarat’s flood response is transitioning to focus on relief, restoration, and preparing for upcoming rainfall following the completion of rescue operations in severely affected areas of South Gujarat. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel chaired a meeting at the State Emergency Operations Centre in Gandhinagar to assess the heavy rainfall situation across the state. The India Meteorological Department highlighted the presence of five active weather systems in Gujarat, with widespread rainfall expected in various regions over the next few days.

Red, Orange, and Yellow alerts have been issued for different parts of the state in anticipation of the forecasted rainfall. District collectors and local administrations in affected areas have been instructed to maintain high alert levels and ensure all necessary preparedness measures are in place. Gujarat has experienced above-normal seasonal rainfall this year, with districts like Valsad and Navsari already surpassing their average seasonal rainfall percentages.

Rescue operations in South Gujarat are nearing completion as rainfall intensity decreases in the region. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has redeployed a team to Ahmedabad after concluding rescue work in Valsad. A total of 17 NDRF teams and 32 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams are supporting district administrations in rescue and relief efforts across the state.

The state government has allocated Rs 40 crore for cash doles and household assistance to aid those affected by heavy rainfall and flooding. Relief distribution has commenced in Valsad and will extend to Navsari once floodwaters recede. Restoration work on damaged infrastructure, including roads, is progressing with the support of personnel and machinery.

Efforts are underway to restore power supply in flood-affected areas, with teams working to address disruptions caused by waterlogging. Officials are also focusing on cleanliness drives post-flooding to mitigate the risk of disease outbreaks. District administrations have been advised to disseminate timely information to the public through various channels to prevent unnecessary panic.
