The Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority initiated the 2026 edition of “School Safety Week” in government primary schools to educate students on disaster preparedness. The week-long program includes activities like awareness sessions, hazard explanations, and competitions to enhance emergency response skills. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and State Minister Sanjaysinh Mahida emphasized the importance of early disaster awareness among children.
Additional Chief Secretary Jayanti Ravi highlighted the significance of preparedness and regular practice in reducing disaster impacts during the launch event. The program, broadcasted through BISAG’s Vande Gujarat Channel, aims to integrate safety education into everyday learning for schoolchildren. Since 2015, the Gujarat government has been conducting the Gujarat School Safety Programme annually to enhance disaster readiness among students.
