The Gujarat State Yog Board is set to host approximately 225 summer yoga camps for children aged seven to 15 in various locations across the state from May 16 to May 30. These camps are part of a broader initiative to promote healthier lifestyles and reduce excessive screen time among children during the summer break. The “Summer Yoga Camp-2026” aligns with the upcoming ‘International Yoga Day’ and aims to introduce youngsters to yoga and wellness practices early on.
Amid rising concerns about children’s increased mobile phone usage, lack of physical activity, mental stress, and irregular routines, the camps seek to instill values such as discipline, self-confidence, and positive thinking in children from a young age. The program is designed to make summer holidays not just about entertainment but also about the holistic development of children, encompassing physical, mental, and cultural aspects.
Participants in the camps will engage in various activities including yogasanas, pranayama, meditation, subtle exercises, and recreational yoga. Additionally, sessions focusing on physical fitness, mental concentration, health awareness, Indian culture, and life values will be conducted. Special activities are planned to foster teamwork, leadership skills, positivity, and disciplined lifestyles among the children.
The primary goal of these camps is to encourage children to disconnect from electronic devices and embrace yoga, health, and nature. The Gujarat State Yog Board emphasizes that yoga can offer a natural and effective solution to the health challenges faced by children in today’s digital era. Regular yoga practice is believed to enhance flexibility, memory, self-confidence, and mental stability, all crucial for the overall development of children.
