Gujarat Titans have named former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. Dahiya, who played 19 ODIs and two Tests for India, had a successful domestic career with Delhi before transitioning into coaching. He previously led Delhi to a Ranji Trophy victory in the 2007–08 season and has extensive coaching experience across domestic and IPL teams.
The addition of Vijay Dahiya follows the recruitment of former Australia batting legend Matthew Hayden as the Batting Coach, enhancing the coaching staff of the Titans for the upcoming IPL season. Since their debut in 2022, Gujarat Titans have been a consistent IPL team, making it to the playoffs in three out of four seasons and winning the title in their first season. With a strengthened coaching setup, the team aims to continue their successful run in IPL 2026.
Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, will kick off the season by hosting Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The IPL 2026 season will feature a total of 20 matches across 10 venues, including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Guwahati, New Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. The tournament will include four double-headers, with afternoon matches starting at 03:30 PM IST and evening matches at 07:30 PM IST.
The opening match will see Mumbai Indians facing Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.
