The Guna police apprehended four individuals and retrieved Rs 16.77 lakh within 18 hours of a robbery where Rs 17 lakh was stolen from an employee of a coriander trader in Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred near Nichla Bazar Rapta in Guna city on July 8. Vasudev Sharma, the victim, was carrying Rs 17 lakh to Kumbhraj, comprising Rs 15 lakh from Pachore and Rs 2 lakh from Guna.
Superintendent of Police Hitika Vasal stated that the perpetrators ambushed Sharma at the causeway, sprayed a substance in his eyes, snatched the cash-filled bag, and fled. Following immediate registration of a case, the police, utilizing CCTV footage and technical evidence, arrested the culprits.
Investigations revealed that two of the detainees executed the robbery, one aided their escape, and another provided information on the cash’s movement. The police recovered Rs 16,77,100 of the stolen money and impounded a Swift car allegedly used in the crime. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining amount and ascertain the involvement of the accused in similar cases.
Six teams were formed to solve the case, employing various investigative techniques such as CCTV analysis, technical surveillance, field verification, and information from local sources. The arrested individuals are in custody for questioning as the investigation progresses.
