Disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein has reacted to actress Gwyneth Paltrow’s decade-old allegations that contributed to the #MeToo movement. Weinstein, 73, convicted of sex crimes, expressed his refusal to forgive Paltrow for publicly discussing an encounter from early in her career. Paltrow, now 53, accused Weinstein of making an unwanted advance when she was 22.
Weinstein, awaiting retrial after a New York conviction was overturned, addressed Paltrow’s claims in an interview from custody. Paltrow was one of many women who accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct in 2017, sparking the #MeToo movement. Weinstein mentioned a meeting with Paltrow where he suggested a massage, to which she declined, leading to Brad Pitt intervening.
Gwyneth Paltrow previously disclosed an incident in her early acting days involving Weinstein’s alleged advance, which she rejected and later informed Brad Pitt about. Pitt confronted Weinstein at a Broadway play premiere in 1995. Paltrow emphasized the importance of speaking out against mistreatment of women in the film industry, stating that such behavior must end.
