Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini highlighted the government’s efforts to provide top-notch infrastructure for athletes aiming to excel in the Olympics. The state has set up sports nurseries and other facilities to nurture local sporting talent. Saini mentioned that due to the world-class amenities offered, Haryana athletes have been successful in securing a significant number of medals for the nation.
CM Saini, along with Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam, inaugurated a synthetic hockey ground worth around Rs 5.50 crore as part of the Khelo India Scheme by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Additionally, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for an all-weather swimming pool project costing Rs 8 crore under the same scheme.
The newly opened synthetic hockey ground is expected to provide aspiring hockey players with advanced facilities to enhance their skills. Saini assured athletes of the government’s dedication to promoting sports and enhancing sports infrastructure. Through the Khelo India Scheme, the state aims to further empower its athletes to achieve success at the Olympics and international competitions, bringing pride to the country.
Vice-Chancellor of Kurukshetra University, Somnath Sachdeva, shared details of the synthetic hockey astroturf project funded by the Union Ministry of Sports. The ministry allocated a budget of Rs 10 crore, with Rs 5.50 crore utilized for the hockey ground and the remaining Rs 4.50 crore designated for a multipurpose indoor sports hall.
