Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has put forth a state budget of Rs 2.23 crore for the fiscal year 2026-27, marking a 10.28% increase from the previous year’s revised estimate of Rs 2.02 crore. The budget focuses on bolstering the rural economy and includes the establishment of a new power distribution company, Haryana Agri DISCOM, tailored for the farming sector.
In his second budget presentation, CM Saini, who also oversees the Finance Department, outlined key financial figures. The projected fiscal deficit is Rs 40,293.17 crore, equivalent to 2.65% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). He emphasized the need for increased capital investment to drive infrastructure development, with capital expenditure set at Rs 28,205 crore, representing 12.6% of the total budget.
Saini highlighted Haryana’s economic progress, aiming for the state to achieve a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2047. Notably, he mentioned the state’s rising per capita income, which has surpassed that of other major states. The budget also includes plans to boost profitability in primary agricultural credit societies and introduce discussions on key issues in Gram Sabha meetings.
The proposed budget allocates Rs 500 crore for a special fund named ‘Saksham’ to support industrial growth, enhance infrastructure in targeted cities, and stimulate local economic activities. Additionally, the creation of Haryana Agri DISCOM aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply to over 7 lakh consumers through 5,084 agricultural feeders.
