Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini criticized the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for engaging in election-time freebie politics. He mentioned that the people of Punjab are disenchanted with the current government’s policies and are seeking an alternative before the upcoming polls. CM Saini particularly addressed the recent budget announcement by the Punjab government, offering financial aid to women from different categories, stating that these promises are politically motivated.
The Chief Minister highlighted a trend of populist promises and freebies by both the Congress and AAP governments in Punjab during elections. He drew a comparison with former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s tactics, suggesting a similar fate for the Bhagwant Mann-led government in the next Assembly elections. CM Saini also expressed concerns over the alleged hindrances created by the Punjab government in implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, affecting eligible beneficiaries in availing its benefits.
Furthermore, CM Saini criticized the reported use of tear gas on women employees protesting for their rights on International Women’s Day, deeming the incident regrettable. He emphasized that such actions, especially on a day dedicated to women’s recognition and rights, send an inappropriate message. The Chief Minister also noted the contrast in treatment between Punjab CM’s visits to Haryana and vice versa, highlighting the importance of mutual respect and protocol in inter-state relations.
