Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini expressed plans to increase farmers’ earnings significantly by aiming to sell Haryana’s mangoes in supermarkets in London, New York, Dubai, and Tokyo. He highlighted the importance of farmers transitioning from producers to value creators and exporters to achieve the vision of a developed India by 2047. The Chief Minister made these remarks during the inauguration of the 33rd Mango Mela at Yadavindra Gardens in Pinjore.
CM Saini commended the farming community’s dedication, innovation, and hard work showcased through the exhibition of more than 200 mango varieties at the event. He praised the efforts of Haryana Tourism Corp and the Horticulture Department for organizing the Mango Mela, considering it a tribute to farmers’ commitment and a celebration of the state’s agricultural excellence. The Chief Minister also credited Prime Minister Modi for India’s rapid economic growth, with a focus on villages, farmers, and agriculture as the foundation of this progress.
Underlining the importance of farmers actively participating in the market, CM Saini highlighted the establishment of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) nationwide to help small and marginal farmers reduce costs and increase incomes. He mentioned the use of drones for farm surveys, AI for soil health assessment, and real-time weather updates for farmers via mobile phones. The Chief Minister also emphasized the adoption of AI-enabled digital accounting for smart farming, while stressing the significance of blending innovation with farmers’ experience in agriculture.
