Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini praised the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-G RAM G) for enhancing the livelihoods of diligent laborers. This initiative, endorsed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ensures workers’ rights to dignified work, timely wages, social recognition, and secure livelihoods. Saini emphasized the crucial role of village development and laborers in achieving India’s status as a developed nation by 2047.
The Chief Minister underscored that the VB-G RAM G program goes beyond mere employment generation, aiming to uplift laborers’ lives, uphold the dignity of labor, and safeguard their self-respect. He clarified that the new law, Viksit Bharat — G RAM G Act, is not just a rebranding of MNREGA but a comprehensive modernization of rural employment systems. Under this legislation, the guaranteed employment period has been extended from 100 to 125 days, with states authorized to suspend work for up to 60 days during crucial agricultural seasons.
With the expectation of an annual income rise of over Rs 7,000 for rural unskilled workers nationwide, Haryana laborers stand to gain an additional benefit of at least Rs 10,000. By transitioning to weekly wage payments and expanding the types of work covered, the scheme aims to eradicate fraudulent practices and enhance employment opportunities. The new approach is set to boost development activities in villages, offering a more inclusive and forward-looking employment framework compared to the previous MNREGA model.
