Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar welcomed Gyan Singh Mann, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s cousin, into the Bharatiya Janata Party. Also joining the party were businessman Baljinder Singh Barnala and former personal assistant Manjinder Singh Sajan Khera.
At a joint press conference, CM Saini and Jakhar expressed that the new members had joined the BJP after their hopes for change in AAP were unmet. The state BJP chief condemned recent attacks on BJP offices and workers in various cities, emphasizing that those responsible would be held accountable.
Jakhar emphasized that investigations by agencies like the Enforcement Directorate and the CBI would continue, regardless of attacks on BJP offices. He vowed to resist any attempts to create unrest in Punjab similar to what happened in Bengal, stating that the BJP would stand against violence and intimidation.
The state BJP President assured readiness for the upcoming local body elections, asserting that the people of Punjab were prepared to end what he termed as AAP’s corrupt governance. He warned that during elections, the government machinery must remain impartial to avoid accountability for biased actions.
