Haryana’s Director General of Police (DGP) O.P. Singh has instructed for enhanced surveillance on criminals involved in multiple cases, especially those currently out on bail. This directive comes as part of the ongoing ‘Track Down’ and ‘Hotspot Domination’ initiatives. In a recent high-level meeting in Madhuban, the DGP reviewed the achievements and challenges of 2025 while finalizing the crime control roadmap for 2026.
Detailed discussions were conducted on strengthening crime prevention mechanisms, intelligence gathering, public outreach, and enforcement strategies for the upcoming year. The DGP highlighted the importance of evolving policing into a more proactive and result-oriented system that garners public trust amidst evolving security challenges. Emphasis was placed on continuous surveillance of criminals with a focus on those out on bail, with the initiation of legal actions for bail cancellation in case of repeated criminal involvement.
The DGP stressed the need for personal review of notorious offenders by District Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and emphasized the importance of maintaining and enhancing the effectiveness and success achieved by the Haryana Police in recent years. Special attention was given to cases related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) with instructions to prepare detailed history sheets of offenders and freeze their illicitly acquired properties through legal processes to disrupt drug networks’ economic backbone.
Continuing the focus on crime control, the DGP directed for the sustained implementation of operations like ‘Track Down’ and ‘Hotspot Domination’ to deter criminals and boost public confidence. Additionally, efforts were to be made to trace absconders, ensure continuous police presence at crime-prone areas, and monitor individuals attempting to involve children and youth in illicit activities. The meeting also addressed the rising challenge of cybercrime, with instructions to bolster district-level cyber units.
In his address, DGP Singh reiterated the importance of public trust as the police force’s greatest asset and expressed confidence in the force’s dedication and professionalism in the upcoming year. He urged officers to uphold integrity and performance standards to maintain excellence in their work.
