Pratham Barar, a B.Com student from Yamunanagar, Haryana, expressed immense surprise and happiness when Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned his name in the latest episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, praising his ideas on creating a Green and Clean Bharat. Pratham described the recognition as a moment of pride and disbelief, still coming to terms with it. He shared that the essay he wrote, focusing on environmental improvement and protection for a sustainable future, was acknowledged by the PM.
The mention by the Prime Minister has motivated Pratham to continue his efforts towards environmental conservation and social awareness with increased dedication. He credited his interest in environmental conservation to his school days and a summer camp experience at Bhagat Singh Park, which shaped his perspective on environmental preservation. Despite personal challenges, including the loss of his father, Pratham remained determined in his studies and social work.
Joining the National Service Scheme (NSS) in college further fueled Pratham’s commitment to community service. He emphasized the importance of planting trees and adopting an eco-friendly lifestyle, inspired by the NSS motto ‘Not Me, But You’. Pratham highlighted the active role of NSS volunteers in spreading awareness about cleanliness and environmental protection among the people. The recognition from the Prime Minister reinforced Pratham’s belief that individual efforts, no matter how small, can create a positive impact.
