Haryana’s Chief Electoral Officer, A. Sreenivas, revealed that approximately 2.6 lakh individuals in the state have not yet submitted their filled enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, with the highest number of pending forms in Gurugram. The Election Commission of India recently rescheduled the final publication date of the voters’ list in Andhra Pradesh and Haryana to October 3, with the draft publication set for July 31 in both states based on a qualifying date of July 1. Sreenivas informed that efforts are underway to collect the outstanding forms, especially in areas like Gurugram, Rohtak, Faridabad, and Hisar, where a significant number of forms are pending.
The ASD category, representing Absent, Shifted, Dead, and Duplicate voters, constitutes around 16.28% of Haryana’s electorate, totaling approximately 33.6 lakh individuals who will not appear on the new draft roll. The period for filing claims and objections is scheduled from July 31 to August 30, with the notice phase and disposal of claims and objections to occur from July 31 to September 28, leading up to the final publication of electoral rolls on October 3. The electoral department is gearing up for the expected influx of claims and objections, ensuring adequate officials are in place to address voter concerns promptly.
Addressing reports of alleged sexual harassment involving a female BLO in Nuh district, Sreenivas clarified that the incident is isolated and unrelated to the Special Intensive Revision process. Denying any involvement of their BLO in the reported incident, he emphasized that the matter is individual and not connected to the ongoing electoral roll revision efforts.
