A health camp was recently held at Burhanpur district hospital in Madhya Pradesh as part of the Prime Minister Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan (PMSMA). The camp offered free health check-ups and counseling to pregnant women. 40 pregnant women participated in the camp, with 10 identified as having high-risk pregnancies. Immediate treatment and consultations with specialist doctors were provided to these women.
The main aim of the health camp was to deliver timely and effective healthcare services to pregnant women, ensuring the well-being of both mother and child. Mangala Bhagat, a local woman, commended the initiative, emphasizing the significance of such camps for expecting mothers. Pregnant women were educated on the importance of timely vaccination, nutrition, and a balanced diet at the camp.
Dr. Pratibha Bagar, a Medical Officer, mentioned that such health camps are regularly organized under the PMSMA. Pregnant women receive free medical assistance, counseling, and necessary tests, including sonography. The camps aim to identify women at risk of delivery complications in advance to provide timely solutions.
Vandana Missi, Field Officer of the PMSMA, highlighted the regular organization of special camps for pregnant women as per the central government’s directives. These camps have increased awareness among pregnant women and are contributing significantly to safe motherhood. Pregnant women attending the camps are informed about 24-hour free support services and other facilities available under various programs.
The health campaign is a monthly initiative to ensure timely identification, treatment, and monitoring of pregnant women, leading to a continuous reduction in maternal and infant mortality rates.
