Heatwave conditions have worsened in Rajasthan, leading to a significant increase in day and night temperatures across various districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 19 districts, forecasting maximum temperatures to range between 42 and 45 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday. Barmer recorded the highest maximum temperature at 45.4 degrees Celsius, while Sirohi saw the lowest minimum temperature at 22.6 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department predicts a further escalation of heatwave conditions not only in western Rajasthan but also in the northern and eastern regions of the state. Several cities, including Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Chittorgarh, experienced scorching daytime temperatures above 44 degrees Celsius on Sunday. Nighttime temperatures have also been impacted, with Hanumangarh recording a minimum of 33.2 degrees Celsius, causing discomfort and hindering relief from the daytime heat.
The intense heatwave has led to reduced public movement during afternoon hours, with deserted roads observed between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Measures such as installing coolers and spraying water on cows multiple times a day have been taken in cow shelters to protect animals from the heat. Residents are advised to avoid direct sunlight exposure, stay hydrated, and take precautions against heat-related illnesses as the heatwave is expected to persist in Rajasthan in the upcoming days.
