Reflecting on her experiences at awards ceremonies in the past, Mirren recalled feeling out of place among taller actresses like Nicole Kidman. She mentioned that high platforms were not a common fashion choice back then and had to resort to buying them from stripper shops on Hollywood Boulevard.
Mirren emphasized the impact of platform heels on her stature, noting that they helped her stand at eye level with taller actresses. She previously praised the effect of four-inch platforms on height and leg appearance, mentioning their initial scarcity outside of stripper shops.
The actress’s affinity for striking footwear was highlighted when a Barbie doll was created in her likeness in 2024. The doll, inspired by Mirren’s Cannes Film Festival look in 2023, featured a Del Core gown, blue hair, and platform shoes. Mirren expressed her satisfaction with the doll’s accuracy, particularly praising the platform shoes that have been her go-to choice for red carpet events.
