The hijab controversy in Bihar is escalating as the opposition continues to criticize Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, demanding an apology for an incident involving a female doctor. The controversy began when the Chief Minister reportedly removed the hijab of a Muslim woman doctor during a ceremony in Patna. Tej Pratap Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, expressed disapproval of the incident, stating that such actions should not have taken place. He emphasized that the Chief Minister’s behavior was inappropriate. On the other hand, Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha defended Nitish Kumar, suggesting that the incident was being blown out of proportion. Kushwaha urged for a more understanding view, considering the Chief Minister’s age and experience, and emphasized the need for sensitivity in such matters. He also criticized remarks made by former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, stating that such comments could harm public trust. Kushwaha highlighted his party’s growing presence beyond Bihar, aiming to establish an alternative national political voice.
